| Metro Waste is the largest independent hauler of construction waste in Utah. Founded in 1999 by Paul Richards and Dick Chatterton, the company now hauls approximately 65% of the construction waste generated along Utahs Wasatch Front. Metro has also become Utahs largest construction waste recycler. Using state of the art processes and technology, Metro processes more than 15,000 tons of waste each month, reaching recycling levels as high as 50%. Banyan's involvement with Metro began in early 2003 as the company began to explore the possibility of solidifying its position in the market by opening its own landfill. John Dunn worked with the company on a full-time basis until July 2004 when the company received the first commercial municipal landfill permit granted in the state of Utah in nearly 20 years. In late 2004, Banyan assisted the company in obtaining $27 million in equity and debt funding to construct and operate its landfill and accompanying transfer station.
John continues to oversee Banyan's investment in Metro Waste. |
